Sun Project
I chose to make this sun because i read a recent news story on the hero pilot, Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is retiring. The pilot is famous for safely landing his aircraft in the Hudson River in 2008 and saving many lives. I chose to make the base of my sun out of a sunflower that I had in my apartment. I added aviator sunglasses to the sun’s face, an American flag, and pilot wings to convey the message. I played around with the opacity of the flag and the coloring of the sun as a whole. I practiced using multiple layers to craft this image.
Tilt-Shift Photography

I took this picture over the summer on my vacation and I thought it would be interesting to try the tilt-shift on this so the people could appear smaller. I also played around with the lighting.

I decided to try the tilt-shift on this photo because I thought the toys in the sandbox would look really interesting in a smaller perspective. I also played around with the contrast to make the colors pop more.
Photo News Story
We created this image to represent Obama’s change of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in the military. We started with the backdrop of soldiers boarding an aircraft. We then dropped out the soldiers and added an American flag and fused it with a Gay Pride flag. We changed the opacity to make the flags look as if they are uniting. We then added the soldiers back in and wrote a short message at the bottom.
Photo Collages
I really like the photo collage assignment. I was able to play around with how two images could work together to convey a message. It also helped me learn a bit more about photoshop, just through experimenting. I hope to take more pictures of contrasting images for a more interesting approach.
